Breakfast of Champions

September 7, 2012 by Kari Karch

I have a morning ritual I’ve been doing for the past couple weeks that includes waking up and doing a series of yoga stretches then hitting the pavement for a run. At first it was almost impossible for me to wake up early and get my butt moving. All I wanted to do was to roll back over and sleep for one more hour but I decided that doing nothing every morning was getting me nowhere fast and I had to make some serious commitments. It’s amazing how fast your body and mind start to take notice once you inject a vial of motivation and determination in it. These past couple weeks of beginning a routine proves that I can wake up early and I can take on the day after a great workout.

As soon as I walk in the door from that run, it’s time to get some nourishment and fill up my belly! I’m usually just at the point where I’m running to the fridge to make my morning meal. The idea is to have a balance of whole grains, protein, fruit/and or vegetables. So I always opt for the go to staple which is a slice of whole grain sprouted wheat bread, natural peanut butter, sliced banana, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. I pair it up with a glass of unsweetened almond milk and let me just say that I feel fantastic. The fiber really fills me up and I’m not hungry until lunch. Give this super quick and easy breakfast concoction a try and tell me what you think!
