We Want Your Ideas: Submit Your Inventions with Idea X-Change

For over 100 years, the Kenmore brand has been an important part of homes across America. Since 1913, we’ve been at the forefront of innovation and technology, bringing you the latest features and improvements on the appliances that make your house work as hard as you do.

Now we’re turning the tables and letting you get in on the design process. The Kenmore brand recently launched Idea X-Change, a site that allows users to submit their own inventions and ideas directly to the brand.

We’re looking for a broad range of ideas – from cooking, laundry and refrigeration innovations to bigger ideas and solutions for business problems. Whether you have a simple sketch on a napkin or a full working prototype, you can now contact us directly with your inventions and ideas.

This is your chance to work with a storied brand to develop your invention and maybe even bring it to market.  Here’s how it works:

Submit your original concept or innovation using the Idea X-Change form. You’ll need some information handy in order to complete the form so here’s a quick rundown:

First, you’ll accept the terms and conditions and then enter your complete contact information. After you’ve entered your contact information, you’ll be asked to title your innovation and then check whether you’ve applied for a patent. If you have a patent, you’ll need to enter your patent number. If you’ve applied for a patent, you’ll need to enter your patent application serial number. And if you have NOT applied for a patent, you’ll need to tell us whether you have a prototype for your invention. You’ll also be asked to provide an executive summary of your innovation in 200 words or less and also provide a full summary of your innovation in 400 words or less. Next, you’ll upload up to 10 images of your invention or innovation. These can be drawings, sketches or photographs in jpeg, PDF or PNG format. Lastly, you’ll be asked whether you have shared this invention or innovation with anyone else. Finally, you can review your Idea X-Change entry in its entirety before submitting it.

Once your concept has been submitted it will be reviewed by an in-house team. If your concept sparks the interest of our reviewers, you may be contacted for additional information.
