Energy efficiency is more than just a buzzword. It’s a crucial component of adopting a more sustainable lifestyle. Reducing energy consumption not only helps to lower utility bills but also minimizes our environmental impact. By conserving energy at home and at work, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, decrease air pollution, and preserve our precious natural resources for future generations. And for well over 100 years, Kenmore brand has remained committed to helping you make smarter choices for a greener tomorrow.

Save Energy (and Money!) with ENERGY STAR®

ENERGY STAR® is a government-sponsored program that certifies consumer products and building materials for meeting strict energy-efficiency standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Its goal is to help people find ways to save money and help protect the environment through superior energy performance.

Kenmore has been a proud partner of the ENERGY STAR® program since 2002, and offer a broad choice of appliances and household products that are certified and bear the ENERGY STAR® emblem. Among them are:

Simple Steps You Can Take at Home

While investing in energy-efficient appliances is a great place to start, there plenty of other ways to reduce your energy consumption at home every day. Here are some useful, easy-to-do tips to help you make the most of Energy Awareness Month:

Use LED Lighting

LED bulbs can use up to 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and they last significantly longer. Take a few moments to check your home’s fixtures and lamps, and replace old incandescent bulbs with LEDs to save on energy and replacement costs.

Optimize Heating and Cooling

Set your thermostat to 68-70°F in the winter and 76-78°F in the summer. Use ceiling fans to circulate air and maintain comfort without overworking your HVAC system.

Seal Leaks and Insulate

Proper insulation and sealing gaps around windows and doors can prevent heat loss in winter and keep your home cooler in summer, reducing the need for constant heating or cooling.

Wash Clothes in Cold Water

Heating water accounts for a large portion of energy used in washing machines. Switch to cold water settings to save energy and protect your clothes from wear and tear.

Take Advantage of Natural Light

Open blinds and curtains during the day to let in natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting. This simple step can make a big difference in your energy usage.

Conserving energy at the office takes a cooperative effort from facilities management and your colleagues and coworkers. Help celebrate Energy Awareness Month by sharing some of these tips with them.

Manage Light Fixtures

Using dimmers, motion sensors, or occupancy sensors to automatically turn off lighting when not in use is an easy way to save energy.

Use More Task Lighting

Instead of brightly lighting an entire room, focus the light where and when it’s needed.

Update Work Computers

Replace older, less efficient desktop systems with laptop computers and next-generation tablets.

Pull the Plug

Remember to unplug any equipment that drains energy when not in use, such as phone chargers, fans, coffeemakers, desktop printers, radios, etc.

Upgrade Your Gear

Replace older office equipment (printers, copiers, fax machines) with updated models that feature smart power-management capabilities.

Whole Home Electrification

Energy Awareness Month

Beginning in 2023, the Inflation Reduction Act has been designed to provide American households with upfront rebates and/or tax credits to purchase new, energy-efficient electric appliances and other upgrades. Today, Kenmore is leading the way to help create a more sustainable future through home electrification initiatives. We are on a mission to help fully electrify 1 million American homes in the simplest, most cost-effective way possible.

We’re actively building a whole home suite of appliances to help you cook, clean, and drive more efficiently, consume less energy, and save money, both on units and utility costs. We recently announced the launch of our first product package offering a dynamic EV Charging solution. We also announced the efforts by our DieHard EV Charging brand to expand the EV Charging infrastructure.
