Dorm Room Dining: Small Kitchen Appliances to the Rescue

Your new dorm room may not include a kitchen, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to hang up our chef’s hat. It just means that you’ll need to start thinking small. As in small kitchen appliances. Here’s a quick guide to small space cooking featuring some of our favorite small kitchen appliances.

• Toaster Ovens can make a lot more than toast. In fact, we prefer to call these little workhorses counter top ovens. Some models are even large enough to accommodate a 12″ pizza!

• A Removable Plate Grill will keep you satiated with burgers and steaks all year long. Plus, you can use the grill to make grilled sandwiches.

• Slow Cookers are a great way to make sure you have a hot and hearty meal after a day of classes. You can also prep breakfast for those early days.

• Countertop Microwaves will keep you well fed throughout the school year and then travel with you to your first apartment. And they go way beyond microwave popcorn. You can make everything from Microwave Pita Pizza to Simply Simple Shrimp Scampi Skewers.

• Blenders are useful for more than margaritas. From smoothies to Chipotle Black Bean Soup, you can use a blender to whip up a meal in minutes.

• And don’t forget the coffee makers. You’re going to need the caffeine to make it through those all night study sessions. Whether it’s a single serve model for grabbing a cup of joe on the go or a 12-cup programmable model to make enough coffee for you and your roommates, we’ll keep you pepped up for a lot less money than a coffee shop will charge you.
