- 1 pounds Tempeh, crumbled
- 1 tablespoons Spanish Paprika
- 1 teaspoons black pepper
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoons Agave Nectar
- 1 tablespoons Lemon Juice
- 1 tablespoons Dijon Mustard
- 2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
- 1/2 cup Water
directions
In a mixing bowl combine the ketchup, agave, lemon juice, mustard, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and water. Whisk to combine. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. In a mixing bowl, combine the crumbled tempeh, paprika, and black pepper. Add this to the skillet and saute the tempeh for 2 minutes. Then add the onions and continue to cook for 5 minutes or until the onions are no longer white. Then add the sauce and stir to combine the tempeh and the sauce. Continue to simmer on medium heat for 15 minutes until the mixture thickens. Serve on whole wheat buns.
