Washing a large load of laundry is not usually recommended. You can run the risk of not getting all your clothes clean at best, and at worst, damaging your machine. Luckily, the new Kenmore washers can help you launder larger loads, saving you valuable time. Even though our new laundry pair can wash and dry more laundry at one time, there are still a few tips and tricks to keep in mind when washing to help speed things along and ensure your clothes stay clean and vibrant.

First off, separate your laundry. Lights and darks should be washed separately, of course, but also separate by fabric type and water temperature. A hot wash on a delicate fabric can do more damage than good.

Pre-treating stains on clothes before you wash them can be the difference between being able to wear them again and having to buy new ones. Using a pre-treating product immediately will help keep the stain from drying out and becoming permanent. The longer you let it pre-treat, the better. If you don’t have a product available, try soaking the garment in a bucket of water with a little detergent before you wash it. This may also keep the stain from drying out.

When it’s time to wash, make sure you are using the right amount of detergent. The lines on the caps can often be tough to read, so try using a permanent marker on the side to make your own fill line. Use the manufacturers recommendation for the amount of detergent, however if you are finding a film or residue on your clothes, try adding a water softener such as baking soda in equal parts to help the soap dissolve.

When you are washing, set your cycle for the shortest amount of time. There’s no reason to over-wash your clothes. With that extra time you saved by running on the short cycle, run your clothes through the spin cycle again. This can wring out excess moisture and save extra minutes in the dryer as well.

Fact: No one likes to iron. To avoid that, make sure you remove items from the dryer immediately and either fold or hang up the clothes. If you can’t get to the dryer, toss a damp towel in and run the lowest cycle to give it a quick refresh.

Now all that’s left is to fold and put away or hang up your fresh, clean laundry. Unfortunately, We haven’t found a way to make this part any easier…yet.
